About the EDC Cell

The EDC Cell at VCET, the Engineering college in Puttur was Formed in 2017, The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at VCET is a self-financing and not for profit & working by keeping in view the vision and mission of our best engineering college and Government of India. The Government has identified ‘Entrepreneurship’ as one of the principal mechanisms for the mitigation of Unemployment and Under-employment amongst Science & Technology Graduates in the country today. It is an initiative that aims at cultivating the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the students on the campus

Objectives of Entrepreneurship Development Cell
  1. To act as an institutional mechanism for providing various services including information on all aspect of enterprise building to budding S&T entrepreneurs.

  2. To foster better linkages between the Parent Institution, Industries and R&D institutions in the region and other related organizations engaged in promoting Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).

  3. To respond effectively to the emerging challenges and opportunities both at national and international level relating to SMEs and micro enterprises.

  4. To create awareness on entrepreneurship among the students and to inculcate entrepreneurial spirit and culture among the Science and Engineering graduates and post graduates.

  5. To conduct programs in Entrepreneurship enabling skills and to identify and motivate budding entrepreneurs.

  6. To create a database on industrial information to facilitate entrepreneurs by providing information on entrepreneurial opportunities.

  7. To assist entrepreneurs in sourcing finance, identifying market, preparation of business plan and product development.

  8. To guide the prospective entrepreneurs in knowledge based ventures and to help entrepreneurs to acquire necessary skills to run the industry effectively.

  9. To bridge the gap between Industries and Institutions by carrying out the research activities for the industries and also to conduct skill industrial development training programs with updated technologies.

Functions of Entrepreneurship Development Cell
  1. To organize Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes and Faculty Development Programmes in the region for the benefit of students.

  2. To develop and introduce curriculum on Entrepreneurship Development at various levels including degree/diploma courses of the parent institution and other institutes in the region.

  3. To organize guest lectures, TV & Radio talks, Seminars, etc. for promotion and growth of S&T based entrepreneurship.

  4. To arrange visits to industries for prospective entrepreneurs and to extend necessary guidance and escort services to the trainees in obtaining approval and execution of their projects.
